Chandhok ziet toekomst qua Indiase coureurs somber in

Oud Formule 1-coureur Karun Chandhok is bang dat India het enige tijd zonder rijder op het hoogste niveau zal moeten stellen. Er zijn geen talenten die op de deur van de Formule 1 kloppen. Narain Karthikeyan vertegenwoordigde India vorig jaar nog op de grid, maar hij is nu actief in de AutoGP. Zijn opvolger staat niet klaar.

Chandhok zegt in de Press Trust of India: "De volgende Formule 1-coureur uit India? Ik zou niet weten wie het stokje over kan nemen. De enige Indiase rijders die in beeld zouden kunnen komen, zijn Narain en ik. Om je staande te houden in de Formule 1 moet je gewonnen hebben in Europa. Tot dusver is dat uit India alleen Narain en mij gelukt in de GP2, A1 Grand Prix en Formule 3. Geen enkele andere Indiase coureur is daar in geslaagd. Waar zijn de talenten uit India? Een aantal doet mee in de opstapklasses, maar niemand wint."
