Renault waakt voor verwaarlozing van huidige motoren

Renault heeft klanten als Red Bull Racing, Caterham, Williams en Lotus beloofd dat ze tot het einde van het V8-tijdperk tot het uiterste gaan met de huidige krachtbron. Volgend jaar stapt de Formule 1 over op 1.6 liter V6 turbomotoren, maar de Franse autofabrikant accepteert geen verslapping met de motoren van dit moment.

Rob White, vice-directeur bij Renault, vertrouwde Autosport toe: "We zijn ons volkomen bewust dat alle teams die we van motoren voorzien, verwachten dat we tot het laatste moment toegewijd en betrokken zijn. Ik ben sterk van mening dat we gewoon ons vaste werkwijze moeten hanteren. Sommige processen zoals ontwerp, ontwikkeling en levering verschuiven steeds meer richting 2014, maar dat is meer stroomopwaarts."

"Qua zorg, service, onderhoud en racen willen we tot en met het einde van dit seizoen op het toppen van ons kunnen presteren. Kampioenschappen en zeges krijg je niet cadeau. Het is onze insteek om met al onze teams daar waar mogelijk maximaal te scoren, zij het via overwinningen, podiumplekken of punten."
