Sauber-teamleiding op sponsorjacht in Oost-Europa

Sauber-oprichter Peter Sauber en teambaas Monisha Kaltenborn ontbraken gisteren in Monaco. Het tweetal bevond zich in Oost-Europa, op zoek naar nieuwe sponsoren. Dat meldt Blick. Het is vrij zeldzaam dat zowel Sauber als Kaltenborn een dag bij een Grand Prix mist.

Sauber zou in Oost-Europa speuren naar nieuwe geldbronnen om de motoren voor 2014 te bekostigen. De invoering van de V6 turbo komt tegen een hoge prijs. Red Bull Racing-teambaas Christian Horner bekent: "Het is verdomd duur. Dat komt voor sommige teams aan de achterkant van de grid akelig ongelegen." Lotus-eigenaar Gerard Lopez is het daarmee eens. "De timing is op zijn zachtst gezegd ongelukkig, het is vreemd."
