Interesse van kleine teams voor Buemi is niet wederzijds

Sebastien Buemi slijt zijn dagen tegenwoordig als reserverijder bij Red Bull Racing, een positie die hij combineert met racen voor Toyota in het World Endurance Championship. Daar heeft hij voorlopig vrede mee. Racen in de Formule 1 is zijn ambitie, maar niet ten koste van alles.

Buemi vertelde op 20min.ch: "Natuurlijk wil ik terugkeren op de Formule 1-grid, honderd procent. Maar het doel is om te racen en wat dat betreft is het compromis met Toyota heel goed. Ik kan racen in het World Endurance Championship en blijf via Red Bull Racing verbonden aan de Formule 1."

"Ik heb over belangstelling niet te klagen. Als reserverijder van Red Bull Racing ben ik interessant voor de kleinere teams. Maar dat moet ik wel zien zitten. Ik ga liever op deze manier verder dan dat ik verkas naar een renstal waar ik als achttiende kan finishen."

"De vooruitzichten op contractverlenging bij Red Bull Racing zijn dan ook goed. Ik heb dit jaar zeven dagen in de auto gezeten, wat niet erg veel is. Ik hoop dat ik volgend jaar meer meters mag maken in de bolide."
