Vergne gretig voor Silverstone na topresultaat in Canada

Scuderia Toro Rosso-coureur Jean-Eric Vergne kan niet wachten op de Britse Grand Prix van over anderhalve week. De Fransman verkeert nog steeds in een roes na zijn topresultaat in Canada en staat te popelen om daar een vervolg aan te geven. Hij zal toch echt nog even geduld moeten betrachten.

Vergne: "Montreal was een belangrijk resultaat voor ons. Het was een beloning voor ons harde werk, met name in de fabriek. Het injecteerde alle teamleden met een lading vertrouwen, inclusief mijzelf. Zoveel dat ik zondagavond al uitgebreid met mijn engineer sprak over het weekend op Silverstone. We willen het momentum vast houden en ik kijk uit naar die race."

"Ik was zeer content met mijn optreden in Canada, het was mijn beste resultaat in de Formule 1 tot nu toe en het is lekker om meer punten op het bord te zetten. Uiteindelijk zijn de punten niet echt belangrijk, de sterke prestatie was belangrijker. Zesde is een mooi resultaat, maar dat is nu een afgesloten hoofdstuk en het is zaak om de blik op het heden en de toekomst te richten."
