Williams weerstaat de verleiding om 2013 al af te schrijven

Het team van Williams verschijnt in Silverstone voor de 600ste keer aan de start van een Formule 1-race. Veel reden voor vreugde is er echter niet in Grove, de Britse renstal kent een beroerd seizoen. Desondanks weigert Williams om de handdoek voor 2013 al in de ring te gooien en alle middelen aan te wenden voor 2014.

Vice-teambaas Claire Williams legt aan Autosport uit: "We werken gelijktijdig aan de huidige auto en de wagen voor volgend jaar. We geven nooit een lopend seizoen op en dat programma loopt parallel aan het project voor 2014. We bestuderen de problemen die we momenteel ervaren en zoeken naar manieren om die op te lossen."

"Daarnaast kijken we met een schuin oog naar het nieuwe seizoen om te zorgen dat we alles zo regelen dat we de fouten van afgelopen winter niet herhalen en we volgend jaar beter uit de startblokken schieten. Herhaling zou onacceptabel zijn, net als de huidige prestaties onacceptabel zijn. Iedereen weet dat, iedereen bij Williams is doordrongen van de wil om te winnen."
