Organisatie Monza waant zich veilig op de kalender

De organisatie van de Italiaanse Grand Prix schoot niet in de vlekken nadat Bernie Ecclestone verkondigde dat zelfs de historische race op Monza mogelijk niet ontkomt aan de expansiedrift van de Formule 1. Ecclestone zou dat trouwens alweer gerectificeerd hebben tijdens de afgelopen bijeenkomst van de World Motor Sport Council in Goodwood.

Monza hoeft zich geen zorgen te maken. Dat straalt Federico Bendinelli in Speed Week ook uit. "Ik ken Bernie al meer dan dertig jaar en zijn opmerkingen zijn regelmatig controversieel. Je kan met hem altijd iets explosiefs verwachten. Ik weet alleen dat hij altijd de geldende contracten honoreert en wij hebben een overeenkomst tot en met 2016. De lange termijn baart me ook geen enkele zorgen, want we zijn al in onderhandeling over verlenging van de verbintenis."
