Lotus geeft voorkeur aan updates boven bandenevaluatie

Het team van Lotus heeft de naam van Kimi Raikkonen voor de young drivers-test op Silverstone doorgestreept. Het was de bedoeling dat de Fin vrijdag in zou stappen om de nieuwe banden te taxeren, maar de Britse renstal krabbelt terug nadat ze te horen hebben gekregen wat toegestaan is met de reguliere coureurs.

Charlie Whiting van de FIA informeerde Lotus dat de vaste rijders alleen de afstelling van de voor- en achtervleugel mogen veranderen om de balans te verbeteren. Dat is niet voldoende voor de Britse renstal, ze willen graag updates beoordelen. Engineer Alan Permane: "Zodra de details doorsijpelden over wat mogelijk is met de racecoureurs, werd duidelijk dat we maar een heel beperkt programma met Kimi zouden kunnen afwerken. Als we dat zouden doen, zou het ten koste gaan van ons andere werk voor deze week. Door Nicolas Prost nog een dag te laten rijden stellen we onszelf in staat om voort te borduren op het werk van vandaag en de E21 te ontwikkelen voor Hongarije, naast het nodige bandenwerk voor Pirelli."

Ik snap de insteek, maar waarom dan Nicolas Prost? Ik kan wel betere coureurs opnoemen, dan deze fransman!

  Ach, zo goed hoef je hier toch niet voor te zijn? Zolang Prost de auto maar op de baan houdt verwerkt Lotus de informatie wel.
