McLaren test onderdelen voor 2014 op Silverstone

Het team van McLaren benut de young drivers-test op Silverstone om alvast ver vooruit te kijken. Naar volgend jaar om precies te zijn, dan wil de Britse renstal zich namelijk revancheren voor het matige huidige seizoen. De MP4-28 bevat deze week een aantal updates voor dit jaar, maar vooral toch ook nieuwe onderdelen met het oog op 2014.

Testrijder Oliver Turvey legt uit: "Het is een combinatie van dingen die we later dit jaar nog zouden kunnen gebruiken en van dingen voor 2014 om te leren en te begrijpen. We hebben diverse aerodynamische en mechanische onderdelen geëvalueerd. We begonnen met aero en probeerden daar meerdere opties voor. In de middag stapten we over op het mechanische gedeelte, dus we zijn echt overal mee aan de slag gegaan. We hebben veel met de set-up gespeeld en het was een drukke dag. Ik heb het gevoel dat ik de hele dag in de auto heb gezeten. Het werk spitste zich niet toe op het optimaliseren van de wagen, maar meer op de ontwikkeling en het leerproces richting Hongarije, de rest van dit seizoen en 2014, om dan weer competitief te zijn."
