Pirelli nog niet zeker van contract als bandenleverancier

Het plan van Pirelli om ook de komende vijf jaar als bandenleverancier voor de Formule 1 te fungeren is nog allerminst rond. De Italiaanse bandenfabrikant werkt aan een nieuw contract tot en met 2018, maar de internationale autosportbond FIA is minder enthousiast.

De federatie kondigde vorige week aan dat Pirelli voorlopig aanblijft als bandenleverancier in een overgangsperiode en in afwachting van een nieuwe tender. De bandenfabrikant heeft wel al overeenkomsten met de commerciële rechtenhouder en met alle teams.

Paul Hembery vertelt: "Onthoud dat we in 2011 ook pas in februari van ons eerste jaar het contract ondertekenden. We vergaderen ook nu nog. Helaas. Met veel betrokken partijen en een lading aan advocaten zijn er veel details in het spel, maar de principes staan."
