Pirelli en McLaren plannen bandentest op Vallelunga

Pirelli en McLaren zijn bij Vallelunga aanbeland als alternatieve locatie voor een bandentest. Het oorspronkelijke plan was een test op het Circuit of the Americas in Austin, maar daar staken de overige teams en de internationale autosportbond FIA een stokje voor.

Pirelli en McLaren kregen geen toestemming om te testen op de locatie voor de Grand Prix van de VS later dit jaar. Daarop gingen ze op zoek naar een ander circuit. De keuze is nu gevallen op Vallelunga, voor een 1000 kilometer-test op 11 en 12 november.

McLaren zet haar testrijders in en stelt een auto uit 2011 beschikbaar. Sportief directeur Sam Michael: "De FIA heeft het licht nog niet op groen gezet, daar wachten we op. Aangezien het een test van Pirelli betreft moeten zij de bond en overige teams inlichten."
