Zwitserse autoriteiten openen onderzoek naar Ecclestone

Bernie Ecclestone wordt steeds verder in het nauw gedreven. Na een aanklacht in Duitsland en een rechtszaak in Londen, openen nu ook de Zwitserse autoriteiten een onderzoek naar de commerciële baas van de Formule 1. Dat melden The Financial Times en Bloomberg.

De zaak van Constantin Medien tegen Ecclestone begon gisteren in Londen. De advocaten van het Duitse mediabedrijf noemden de Brit corrupt. Constantin Medien eist een schadevergoeding van 171 miljoen dollar vanwege misgelopen inkomsten bij de verkoop van de Formule 1-rechten.

Een woordvoerder van de openbare aanklager in Genève bevestigde dat ook in Zwitserland een crimineel onderzoek loopt. Dat gebeurt op verzoek van Constantin Medien. "We moeten de ernst van de feiten vaststellen en of er sprake is van een criminele overtreding", aldus de woordvoerder.
