Johan Jokinen rijdt snelste tijd in eerste training Marrakech

Tijdens de allereerste training van de Formule 2 op het Marokkaanse circuit Marrakech heeft Johan Jokinen de snelste tijd gereden. In een training zonder crashes was de Deen bijna zeven tienden sneller dan Dean Stoneman.

Het was de allereerste keer dat Formule 2-bolides over het circuit in Marrakech reden. De half uur durende sessie kende verrassend geneog geen enkele crash, maar wel hadden veel coureurs nog moeite met de chicane in bocht 19 die door velen werd afgesneden.

Er waren veel positiewisselingen aan de kop van het veld. Onder andere Benjamin Bailly, Dean Stoneman en Parthiva Sureshwaren reden op een bepaald moment de snelste tijd, al bleek Johan Jokinen op het einde de allersnelste. De Deen was met zijn 1:34.670 bijna zeven tienden sneller dan Dean Stoneman, gevolgd op de derde positie door Kazim Vasiliauskas.

Philipp Eng reed de vierde tijd en moest al een seconde toegeven op de tijd van Jokinen. Jonathan Palmer eindigde de eerste training als vijfde, gevolgd door Ricardo Teixeira, Paul Rees en Sergey Afanasiev op de achtste positie. De Belg Benjamin Bailly reed de negende tijd, terwijl Kelvin Snoeks naar de zestiende plaats reed.

Om half 3 start de tweede vrije training in Marrakech.
