Nicola De Marco scoort eerste pole van het seizoen in Valencia

Nicola De Marco heeft vandaag eindelijk zijn eerste pole position van het seizoen gescoord in Valencia. De Italiaan startte beide races in Oschersleben al van de eerste rij, maar mag later vandaag bij de eerste race in Valencia vanaf de eerste startpositie vertrekken.

De Marco reed een 1:26.348 als snelste tijd en was daarmee bijna vier tienden sneller dan Benjamin Lariche. Echter, de Italiaan kon zijn tijd niet meer verdedigen, want één bocht nadat hij zijn snelste tijd reed viel zijn bolide stil. Armaan Ebrahim kwalificeerde zich als derde met Will Bratt naast hem op de tweede startrij.

Kampioenschapsleider Dean Stoneman kwam niet verder dan de elfde startplaats en hierdoor mag Jolyon Palmer zijn titelkansen nog hoop geven. Palmer reed namelijk naar de zevende stek. Kelvin Snoeks kwalificeerde zich als twaalfde.
