Formule 2 scheidt zich volgend seizoen af van het WTCC

De Formule 2-coureurs zullen vanaf volgend seizoen niet meer in hetzelfde weekend als het WTCC in actie komen. De afgelopen twee jaar reden beide klassen in hetzelfde weekend, maar de FIA heeft vandaag een apart kalender voor de Formule 2 gepresenteerd.

Het nieuwe seizoen opent zoals gebruikelijk in Silverstone op 17 april. Verder zijn alleen Brands Hatch en Monza overgenomen van het afgelopen seizoen, terwijl Spa-Francorchamps, Magny-Cours, de Nürburgring en de nieuwe Red Bull Ring nieuw zijn op de kalender. Dit circuit is de afgelopen jaren flink verbouwd en was vroeger bekend als de A1-Ring in Oostenrijk.

Met de nieuwe kalender rijden de coureurs volgend jaar in vijf van de zeven weekenden op Formule 1-circuits. "Onze coureurs in de Formule 2 zijn gefocused om door te stromen naar de Formule 1, dus het is een groot voordeel voor ze dat ze nu op Grand Prix-circuits gaan racen. We hebben een uitdagende en mooie kalender samengesteld die vooral uit die GP-circuits bestaat", aldus F2-baas Jonathan Palmer.

Ah ok, dus als F2 coureur wil je graag rijden op Grand Prix circuits om door te kunnen stromen naar de F2, juist ......

  Nu staat er eenzelfde soort reactie van Ome Joop, maar had ik dat bericht al gezien/gelezen had ik echt niet een half uur later hetzelfde gezegd.
