Thiemo Storz kiest na studiejaar voor Formule 2 in 2011

Thiemo Storz zal komend seizoen deelnemen aan de Formule 2. Het is de eerste debutant die door de organisatie van de raceklasse is bevestigd voor 2011. Eerder werden Jack Clarke, Benjamin Lariche en Alex Brundle al bevestigd.

Storz maakte in 2008 zijn debuut in de eenzitters. In 2009 was hij meteen zeer dominant in de Formula 2000 Light Italy waar hij negen overwinningen scoorde, tien podiumplaatsen en elf pole positions uit elf races. Afgelopen jaar reed hij erg weinig om zich volledig te kunnen concentreren op zijn laatste examens in zijn studie. Komend seizoen debuteert hij in de Formule 2 en is daarbij de eerste debutant die tot op heden is bevestigd.

"De Formule 2 is een geweldige kans voor mij", vertelde de 19-jarige Storz. "Het kampioenschap bevat erg veel kwaliteit met geweldige auto's, een mooie kalender en veel prijzengeld. In 2010 heb ik erg weinig geraced omdat ik me volledig wilde concentreren op mijn studie. Ik heb wel veel getest gedurende het jaar en toen ik een Formule 2-bolide testte was ik er eigenlijk al vrij snel uit. Dit is zeker een van de beste series voor jonge coureurs zoals ik."
