Mick Schumacher snelste tijdens ochtendsessie van laatste testdag

Mick Schumacher heeft vanochtend op Jerez de snelste tijd gereden tijdens de laatste ochtendsessie van de driedaagse test op het Spaanse-circuit. De Duitse Prema-coureur voltooide zijn snelste ronde in 1:24.028 en was daarmee twee tienden sneller dan Jack Aitken. Louis Delétraz eindigde als derde.

Vanaf de start van de sessie was het Nyck de Vries die het snelste onderweg was. De ART-coureur brak als eerste de grens van 1:25.000. Schumacher volgde met 1:25.327. Daarna voltooide Schumacher een kwalificatie simulatie en zette hij de snelste tijd op 1:24.277. Delétraz ging op zijn beurt nog harder. Met een 1:24.247 haalde hij drie honderste van de tijd van Schumacher af.

Sean Galael en Nikita Mazepin veroorzaakte beiden een rode vlag-situatie en nadat de baan weer vrijgegeven werd nestelde Jack Aitken zich in de top 3. Nyck de Vries eindigde als vijfde, hij reed 39 ronden. Richard Verschoor was het snelste van de MP-coureurs. De coureur uit Benschop finishte als tiende met een tijd van 1:24.638. Verschool reed 29 ronden en was uiteindelijk iets meer dan zes tienden trager dan Schumacher.

Vanmiddag zullen de Formule 2-coureurs hun driedaagse test op Jerez afsluiten.

Moet zeggen dat ook ik twijfels had bij de uitslagen van hem in de 2de helft van het f3 seizoen maar hier bevestigd hij wel degelijk zijn snelheid. Hoop dat hij deze lijn kan doortrekken.

In zijn eigen tempo en koers komt deze gast langzaam maar zeker in de F1 en hij gaat daar vermoedelijk een rol van betekenis spelen de komende jaren. Bij de topteams staan ze al klaar om hem een goede auto te geven.
