Eerste pole voor Renault-junior Zhou, De Vries zevende op Silverstone

Rookie Guanyu Zhou heeft zichzelf de beste uitgangspositie verschaft voor de hoofdrace van de Formule 2 op Silverstone. De UNI Virtuosi-coureur was ruim twee tienden sneller dan teamgenoot Luca Ghiotto. Nyck de Vries vertrekt vanaf de zevende positie.

Zhou staat als debutant op een keurige zesde positie in het Formule 2-kampioenschap en stond al drie keer op het podium, maar tot dusver had hij nog geen pole position of zege behaald. Op Silverstone is daar in ieder geval qua pole positions verandering in gekomen. De Chinees noteerde een 1:38.182, wat ruim genoeg was om teamgenoot Ghiotto voor te blijven.

DAMS zal de tweede rij bezetten tijdens de hoofdrace in Groot-Brittannië. Op drie tienden van Zhou reed Sergio Sette Camara zich naar de derde positie, gevolgd door teamgenoot Nicholas Latifi. Het verschil tussen de Braziliaan en de Canadees was niet groot: slechts acht duizendsten van een seconde. Louis Deletraz en Callum Ilott delen de derde startrij.

Kampioenschapsleider Nyck de Vries was niet bij machte om een aanval te doen op de pole position. De coureur van ART Grand Prix reed slechts de zevende tijd op ruim vier tienden van Zhou. Het verschil met de derde positie was echter minder dan een tiende van een seconde. Naast hem start Jack Aitken, terwijl Nobuharu Matsushita en Anthoine Hubert de vijfde startrij zullen delen.

Ik kijk dit eigenlijk nooit maar het valt me wel op dat er elke race wel weer iemand anders op pole staat en dat de verhoudingen zomaar om kunnen slaan, Nu ga ik misschien klinken als een beginner maar hebben ze allemaal dezelfde motor? en zit er niet veel verschil tussen die wagens? ik vind ze eruit zien als mini F1 wagens die geen flapjes gebruiken.

  Je merkt dat elk team in de lagere formule klasses een andere basissetup heeft. Daarom is het zo dat het een team op de een baan beter presteerd dan de ander.

  Ik raad je aan je te verdiepen in minimaal f3, f2 naast de f1 helpt je ook om te begrijpen waar coureurs vandaan komen, daarnaast is het ook gewoon leuk om te volgen....
