Christian Lundgaard debuteert in Abu Dhabi in Formule 2 bij Trident

Christian Lundgaard mag over anderhalve week zijn debuut maken in de Formule 2. De Deense coureur uit het opleidingsprogramma van Renault zal instappen bij Trident.

Gedurende het seizoen 2019 was Lundgaard voor het eerst actief in het FIA Formule 3. Namens ART Grand Prix eindigde de Renault-junior op de zesde positie in het kampioenschap. Hij won zijn enige race in Hongarije. In Abu Dhabi zal Lundgaard de teamgenoot zijn van Giuliano Alesi en hij wordt de vierde coureur die rijdt in de auto met nummer 21.

"Ik ben trots en kijk ernaar uit om mijn F2-debuut te maken en ik wil graag Renault Sport Academy, Trident en mijn partners bedanken voor hun geloof in mij", vertelde Lundgaard. "Het wordt een grote uitdaging om voor de laatste race in te stappen, maar het zal een geweldige ervaring zijn. De F2 is een grote stap, er wordt altijd hard geracet en je moet strategisch nadenken over hoe je de race naar je hand wil zetten - ik kijk ernaar uit om te beginnen en te zien wat ik kan doen."

Teammanager Giacomo Ricci vertelde het volgende: "We zijn blij dat we een jonge, getalenteerde coureur als Christian Lundgaard kunnen verwelkomen. Hij bewijst een van de meest interessante talenten in de autosport te zijn. Als rookie leverde Christian dit jaar een geweldig seizoen af in de FIA Formule 3; ik was iedere keer dat ik hem op de baan in actie zag onder de indruk van zijn skills."

"Voor Team Trident is de komst van Christian een uitgelezen kans om een goed resultaat te scoren én bij te dragen aan zijn groei. We zullen ons best doen om hem te steunen tijdens zijn Formule 2-debuut op een circuit waar hij nog nooit geracet heeft."
