In navolging van de Formule 1 heeft de FIA ook de kalender voor de Formule 2 bekendgemaakt. Dat ziet er anders uit dan normaal. Voor volgend seizoen zijn er minder weekenden ingepland dan gebruikelijk. Het deelnemersveld hoeft in plaats van twaalf nu nog maar acht keer af te reizen naar een locatie. Ook worden er per evenement drie races gereden, terwijl dat de afgelopen jaren er steeds twee waren. De reden dat er minder weekenden zijn ingedeeld, is om kosten te besparen. De talenten uit deze opstapklasse zullen niet in Zandvoort te bewonderen zijn. Door het volle programma kunnen de Formule 2 en Formule 3 niet naast elkaar opereren.
