Mirko Bortolotti naar dominante pole op de Nürburgring

Kampioenschapsleider Mirko Bortolotti heeft zojuist de pole position behaald voor de eerste race op de Nürburgring. De Italiaan was bijna vier tienden sneller dan Mihai Marinescu die de tweede startpositie voor zichzelf opeistte. Will Bratt pakte de derde plaats.

Bortolotti kan in de eerste race van het weekend zijn leidende positie in het kampioenschap flink gaan verstevigen. Rivaal Christopher Zanella kwam in de kwalificatie namelijk niet verder dan de zevende tijd en deelt de vierde startrij met Miki Monras.

Alex Brundle staat daar nog voor op de vierde plaats, gevolgd door Ramon Pineiro en Jack Clarke. Kelvin Snoeks kwalificeerde zich als zestiende met een achterstand van 1,5 seconden op Bortolotti. Vice-kampioen Jolyon Palmer, die de training wel reed, kwam niet in actie tijdens de kwalificatie.
