Charouz Racing legt debutant Cem Bölükbasi vast voor 2022

Cem Bölükbasi debuteert komend seizoen namens Charouz Racing in de Formule 2. De 23-jarige Turk is afkomstig uit het Euroformula Open-kampioenschap, waar hij pas bij de tiende race van het jaar instapte en toch nog als vijfde wist te eindigen, onder meer dankzij twee overwinningen.

Bölükbasi reed in de Euroformula Open voor Van Amersfoort Racing en dat team liet hem eind vorig jaar bij de test in Abu Dhabi al proeven aan de Formule 2. Eerder verdiende de Turk zijn sporen als esporter; van 2017 tot en met 2019 was hij actief in de Formule 1 eSports Series.

"Ik ben heel blij dat ik voor Charouz Racing in de Formule 2 mag uitkomen in 2022", steekt Bölükbasi van wal. "Ik heb hard gewerkt om een kans als deze te krijgen. Ik ben Charouz dan ook ontzettend dankbaar voor hun vertrouwen en ik zal alles geven om dat niet te beschamen."
