Doohan pakt zijn allereerste zege op nat Silverstone

Jack Doohan heeft zijn allereerste F2-overwinning te pakken tijdens de sprintrace. Op een nat Silverstone controleerde de zoon van motorlegende Mick Doohan de gehele race en finishte nabij de seconde voor de Japanner Ayumu Iwasa. Enzo Fittipaldi jr claimde de laatste podiumtrede. Richard Verschoor werd tiende en dat was niet genoeg voor een punt. Alleen de top acht krijgt in de sprintrace punten uitgedeeld. Kampioenschapsleider Felipe Drugovitch hield de schade beperkt en werd vijfde, achter de nummer twee in de stand Theo Pourchaire.

Doordat het met bakken uit de hemel viel, besloot de wedstrijdleiding om de race rollend van start te laten gaan. Jehan Daruvala stond op pole dankzij de reverse-grid-regel met Fittipaldi naast hem. De Indiër behield de leiding, maar moest na zes ronden de koppositie afstaan aan Fittipaldi. Daruvala verloor steeds meer terrein en moest Doohan ook laten gaan, die vlak daarna Fittipaldi verschalkte om de eerste positie. Op een steeds meer opdrogende baan behield de Australier de leiding tot aan de zwart-wit-geblokte vlag en hield de aanstormende Iwasa net achter zich bij de meet.
