Ayumu Iwasa stond flink onder druk om zijn eerste overwinning van 2023 binnen te harken. De Japanse coureur, rijdend voor DAMS, reed in Jeddah vanaf de vierde plaats op de grid naar de zege dankzij sterke inhaalmanoeuvres. Ondanks twee Safety Car-herstarts slaagde hij erin zijn rivalen Victor Martins en Jehan Daruvala achter zich te houden.

Red Bull-junior Iwasa was ontzettend gelukkig met de overwinning. "P1 in de Sprint Race, ik ben hier erg blij mee, maar helaas had ik geen geweldige snelheid. We hebben dus nog veel te doen voor de hoofdrace en daar werken we samen aan als een team, en ik zal mijn best doen om zoveel mogelijk te doen."

Verschoor werd zestiende en zakte twee plaatsen in de stand. Ralph Boschung behoudt door een P4 de leiding, met maar een punt voorsprong op Pourchaire.

Vind dit F2 kampioenschap bijna een volledig red Bull Junior team wedstrijd worden. Zou het leuk vinden als eentje het een keertje haalt naar AlphaTauri. Ook valt Pourchaire weer door de mand lijkt me niet een beter alternatief op Zhou en Bottas.
