Sprintrace: Wedstrijd afgebroken door slecht weer

De Formule 2 sprintrace in Zandvoort is vroegtijdig afgebroken vanwege het slechte weer. De wedstrijdleiding vond het hervatten van de race onverantwoord. Ondanks dat er meer dan twee rondes zijn afgewerkt, zorgde de interventie van de Safety Car ervoor dat er geen punten worden uitgedeeld.

Bij aanvang van de sprintrace kwam de regen al uit de hemel vallen. Toch werd er gestart achter de Safety Car met Isack Hadjar voorop. Oorspronkelijk had kampioenschapsleider Theo Pourchaire reverse-grid-pole, maar kende technische problemen.

De omstandigheden waren verraderlijk en het was niet of, maar wanneer het mis zou gaan. Een groot incident volgde al snel vlak het Scheivlak. Teamgenoten Ralph Boschung en Kush Maini knalden letterlijk op elkaar en ook Jak Crawford was de dupe in de openingsfase.

Een rode vlag moest er aan te pas komen om alle rommel op te ruimen en reparaties uit te voeren. De wedstrijdleiding probeerde enige tijd later de sprintrace te hervatten, maar vond het toch te riskant om verder te rijden. De wedstrijd werd gecanceld.
