PHM Racing kiest voor Paraguayaanse debutant voor 2024

Het Formule 2-startveld voor het aankomende seizoen begint steeds meer vorm te krijgen. De hoogste talentenklasse van de autosport kent in het aankomende seizoen een goed startveld. Het team van PHM Racing heeft bekend gemaakt dat ze voor 2024 kiezen voor Joshua Dürksen.

Dürksen is een opvallende keuze, want de Paraguayaan maakt nog geen ijzersterke indruk in zijn eerdere loopbaan. Dit jaar reed hij in de FRECA-klasse en hij zet dus direct een reuze stap naar de Formule 2. Hij volgt hiermee het pad van het megatalent Andrea Kimi Antonelli. Dürksen rijdt onder een Paraguyaanse licentie, maar hij kan er ook voor kiezen om onder Duitse vlag te rijden.

      Waarschijnlijk heeft het te maken met de snelheid waarmee het (veel) te hoge bonnetje gretig betaald werd. ;-)
      Als teameigenaar ging ik dan ook overstag.

    Het is duidelijk hoe PHM de coureurs selecteert. Dit jaar was de vaste rijder ene Roy Nissany, die zijn vijfde (!) seizoen in F2 rijdt. Hij is achtereenvolgens 22e, 19e, 16e en 19e geëindigd in het kampioenschap en staat dit jaar op een briljante 21e positie met nul punten. Afvoeren dus, gewogen en zo licht bevonden, dat wegen niet lukt.
    En nu dus deze gast.... past wel in het plaatje, maar de FIA zou ook voor de F2 eigenlijk een puntensysteem invoeren, zodat niet Jan en Alleman met een flinke zak geld mag deelnemen. PHM is niks meer dan veldvulling, dat meer in de weg rijdt dan wat anders.
    PHM begon het seizoen 2023 met Brad Benavides. Vorig jaar 23e in de F3 en wist in de Formula Regional Middle East Championship (niet niks die serie) dit jaar maar liefst 2 punten te scoren (29e plek in het kampioenschap). Verrassend genoeg, geen punten in de F2 tot hij opzij werd geschoven. Tijd om Josh Mason erin te zetten die uit het Eurofomula Oen Champiosnhip komt. Vorig jaar wist hij daar toch maar 5e te worden (van de 7 coureurs die het volledige seizoen hebben gereden).

      ooit was het plan van de Fia om de F2 goedkoper te maken dan de voorganger GP2. er zouden minder klunzen met veel geld en weinig talent in moeten rijden en talent met een kleine beurs zou meer kansen moeten krijgen. inmiddels is de F2 duurder dan de GP2 aan het worden, vooral ook omdat de promotor van de klasse dezelfde is als die van de GP2.
