Romain Grosjean kampioen in Euroseries

De Fransman Romain Grosjean heeft de titel in de Formule 3 Euroseries op zijn naam geschreven. De ASM-coureur had in de eerste race op de Hockenheimring genoeg aan een tweede plek om zijn enig overgebleven concurrent Sebastien Buemi op onoverkomelijke achterstand te zetten. Grosjean won dit jaar zes races en kwam tot een puntentotaal van 106 punten.

Er was ook succes voor Nederland. Yelmer Buurman werd derde in race 1 en vierde in race 2. Zodoende won hij nog een plekje in het kampioenschap. Renger van der Zande (foto) kwam niet in de buurt van de punten. Gastrijder Carlo van Dam eindigde in race 1 als dertiende en beste Volkswagen-coureur. In race 2 werd hij geramd door Basil Shaaban, maar hij werd toch als tweede Volkswagen geklasseerd op drie ronden van de winnaar.

Die tweede race werd gewonnen door de Zwitser Sebastien Buemi. De jonge coureur van Mucke Motorsport eindigde ook als tweede in het kampioenschap, op elf punten van Grosjean. Nico Hulkenberg had de Duitse racefans in race 1 op de Hockenheimring al wat te juichen gegeven door de overwinning voor zich op te eisen.
