Jon Lancaster, debutant bij het ART-team in de Formule 3 Euroserie, moet race 2 missen. De jonge Brit heeft een lichte kwetsuur opgelopen tijdens zijn crash van vandaag.

Lancaster plaatste in race 1 een aanval aan de binnenkant bij Jean-Karl Vernay voor de vijfde positie. De wielen haakten in elkaar en Lancaster's wagen werd gelanceerd. De auto maakte een koprol en kwam ondersteboven tot stilstand. In eerste instantie werd gevreesd voor kwetsuren aan de rug en nek maar na onderzoeken werd vastgesteld dat de jonge coureur alleen lichte verwondingen heeft opgelopen aan benen en knieën.

Lancaster is teleurgesteld dat hij niet kan deelnemen aan de tweede race. "Ik ben gewoon in orde. Ik zou mezelf zo kunnen afstoffen en terug in de auto kunnen kruipen maar ik voel dat ik niet alle kracht in mijn linkerbeen om fatsoenlijk te kunnen remmen. Het zou niet eerlijk zijn voor de monteurs om morgen de hele dag achteraan het veld mee te rijden."

Terugkijkend op het incident zegt Lancaster: "Ik probeerde niet eens hem daar in te halen. Als hij me ruimte had gegeven had ik de binnenkant gekozen en anders was ik hem gewoon gevolgd. Maar voor ik daarover kon nadenken, remde hij en reed ik er achterop. Ik was er niet heel erg slecht aan toe, maar mijn knieën hebben een flinke klap te verduren gehad."
