Hulkenburg naar de pole op Norisring

Dit weekeinde wordt de vierde ronde van de Formule 3 Euroserie verreden, in het voorprogramma van de DTM. Nadat Nico Hulkenberg al de snelste was in de vrije training, pakt hij ook de snelste tijd in de kwalificatie en mag zodoende van pole position starten. De jonge Duitser is daarmee op zoek naar een herhaling van het resultaat van vorig jaar op dit circuit, want toen wist hij te winnen.

Mika Maki, nog maar net hersteld van een auto-ongeluk in Finland, kaapt in de laatste seconden de tweede plek weg voor de neus van Kodai Tsukakoshi. James Jakes herstelde zich goed van een spin en kwalificeert zich uiteindelijk als vierde. Christian Vietoris zorgt voor een rode vlag als hij zijn auto in de muur parkeert en start als 27e. Het verschil in tijd is echter te verwaarlozen. Alleen de laatste man, Niall Breen, komt net tekort om binnen een seconde van Hulkenberg te blijven.

De Nederlanders verblijven in het middenveld. Henkie Waldschmidt start als elfde, Renger van der Zande als 23e.
