Alexander Sims pakt overwinning in tweede race

Alexander Sims heeft ART Grand Prix haar eerste zege van het Formule 3 Euroseries-seizoen bezorgd. De Brit startte de race als zesde, maar lag al na zeven ronden aan de leiding. Edoardo Mortara, de winnaar van de eerste race, eindigde als tweede.

Sims startte de race vanaf de zesde plaats maar ging in de eerste paar ronden veel coureurs voor hem voorbij. In de zevende ronde ging Sims voorbij aan leider Roberto Merhi en werd daarna door niemand meer bedreigd. Marco Wittmann reed de hele race achter Merhi aan, maar kon er niet aan voorbij komen.

Pas in de allerlaatste ronde pakte Wittmann de tweede plaats over van Merhi, maar er moest ook nog rekening gehouden worden met Edoardo Mortara. De Italiaan pakte namelijk met een briljante move eerste de derde en direct de tweede plaats over. Hierdoor eindigde Wittmann als derde, voor Merhi.

Laurens Vanthoor kende een sterke race en pakte de vijfde plaats nadat de Belg als twaalfde moest starten. Valtteri Bottas reed naar de zesde plaats, terwijl Daniel Juncadella en Antonio Felix da Costa net buiten de punten eindigden.
