Marco Wittmann nipt sneller dan Juncadella en pakt pole position

Marco Wittmann heeft zijn eerste pole position van het seizoen binnen gehaald. De coureur van Signature was op het einde van de kwalificatie minder dan een tiende sneller dan Daniel Juncadella.

Valtteri Bottas leek op weg naar de pole position, maar een reeks verbeteringen van enkele coureurs op het einde gooiden roet in het eten voor Bottas. De Fin viel terug naar de vijfde startplaats, terwijl Wittmann de snelste tijd reed. Wittmann was uiteindelijk minder dan een tiende sneller dan Daniel Juncadella die als tweede van start gaat.

Edoardo Mortara pakte de derde startpositie, terwijl zijn teamgenoot Laurens Vanthoor de vierde tijd reed. Hiermee start de Belg vanaf de tweede startrij. Bottas eindigde de kwalificatie dus als vijfde, gevolgd door Alexander Sims, Adrian Quaife-Hobbs en Roberto Merhi op de tiende positie. Esteban Guitierrez, die eenmalig in de Euroseries uitkomt, reed slechts de elfde tijd.
