Van Amersfoort ontkent vastleggen Newey

Van Amersfoort Racing weet van niks wat betreft het contracteren van de geniale Red Bull-ontwerper Adrian Newey. Autosport maakte vorige week melding dat de Brit de gelederen van de Nederlandse Formule 3-renstal zou versterken, maar dat berust op een misverstand.

Van Amersfoort Racing liet aan Formule1.nl weten: "Newey werkt niet voor ons team en zal dat ook in de toekomst niet doen. De eerdere berichten zijn gebaseerd op ongeverifieerde informatie die door iemand vanuit het team naar buiten is gebracht. We willen daarom graag onze excuses aanbieden aan de heer Newey en alle betrokken partijen, waaronder de media, voor deze onjuiste mededeling door een teamlid."

Newey was wel aanwezig bij een recente Formule 3-test, maar dat was om de verrichtingen van zoon Harrison te volgen. "Adrian volgt de carrière van zijn zoon uiteraard op de voet, daarom was hij bij deze test. Zo simpel is het", aldus Van Amersfoort Racing.
