Baldisserri wordt mentor van Lance Stroll

Lance Stroll werd eerder dit najaar aangekondigd als ontwikkelingsrijder bij het Formule 1-team van Williams. De Canadees zal die rol komend seizoen wederom combineren met een racezitje in de Formule 3. Hij zal daarbij ondersteunt worden door Luca Baldisserri, de ex-sportdirecteur van Ferrari. Baldisserri zal Ferrari verlaten om zich volledig op de loopbaan van Stroll te kunnen focussen.

Baldisserri is vooral bekend als de race-engineer van Michael Schumacer. De afgelopen jaren hield hij zich bezig met de Ferrari Driver Academy, het platform van Ferrari voor de ontwikkeling en begeleiding van jonge coureurs. De nu 17-jarige Stroll maakt al bijna zes jaar uit van het platform. Volgens Autosport zal Massimo Rivola de rol van manager van de Ferrari Driver Academy overnemen nu Baldisserri vertrekt.

Stroll over de rol van zijn nieuwe coach Baldisserri: "Baldisserri zal mij intensief gaan begeleiden vanaf nu. Hij is nou betrokken bij de beslissingen die het team van Williams maakt over mijn rol en zal me ondersteunen als coureur in de Formule 3. Hij kent me al sinds ik tekende bij de Ferrari Driver Academy. Het is erg belangrijk voor me dat hij me ondersteunt. Luca is erg goed in het analyseren van wat er gebeurt tussen het team en mij als coureur. Wanneer hem iets niet bevalt zal hij dat zeker aangeven."
