Barnicoat wint chaotische derde race

Ben Barnicoat heeft de derde en laatste race van het Formule 3-weekend op de Hungaroring gewonnen. De race werd verreden onder natte omstandigheden en kende een chaotisch verloop. De hoofdrolspelers in de eerste twee races, Ralf Aron en Maximilian Gunther, zagen de finishvlag niet.

Vanwege de natte omstandigheden startte de race achter de Safety Car. Toen het veld werd losgelaten ging het meteen mis voor George Russell en Maximilian Gunther. Beide coureurs raakten elkaar en konden uitstappen.

Barnicoat pakte de leiding toen de leider in de race, Nick Cassidy, in de laatste bocht spinde. Dit was nog voordat de race werd vrijgegeven. Nadat de kalmte was teruggekeerd reed Barnicoat onbedreigd naar de overwinning. Zijn grootste concurrent, Joal Eriksson, vergooide zijn kansen op de zege door zich met nog vier ronden te gaan te verremmen in de tweede bocht.

De volgende races in de Formule 3 zijn over drie weken in het Franse Pau.
