Lance Stroll overtuigend naar zege in race 1 op Zandvoort

Op zeer overtuigende wijze heeft Lance Stroll revanche genomen voor het afnemen van zijn pole positions. Met ruim acht seconden voorsprong won de Canadees de eerste race op Zandvoort, voor Nick Cassidy en Alessio Lorandi.

De eerste race van het Europees Formule 3 op Zandvoort stond niet bepaald bol van de spanning. De race werd beslist bij de start. Stroll had de beste start en ging buitenom in de Tarzanbocht om de leiding te pakken, voor Cassidy, Lorandi, Maximilian Günther en Callum Ilott. De Canadees liep hard weg bij teamgenoot Cassidy, die zelf ook vrij eenvoudig een gaatje trok naar Lorandi.

Lorandi stond aanvankelijk onder druk van Günther, maar van een actie kwam het niet en aan de finish zat er zo'n twee seconden tussen de twee. Günther had het een stuk lastiger om Ilott en Niko Kari achter zich te houden, maar de Van Amersfoort- en Red Bull Junior-rijder konden geen gaatje vinden om voorbij te gaan aan de Prema-coureur.

Door zijn zesde zege van het seizoen loopt Stroll verder uit in het kampioenschap. Maar liefst 99 punten scheiden hem en Günther. Race twee is vanmiddag rond 14:40 uur.
