Teams verbinden zich ook voor 2011 aan de Euroseries

De Formule 3 Euroseries lijkt gered te zijn. De laatste weken waren er berichten dat de teams uit het sterk gekrompen Euroseries-veld de overstap wilden maken naar het Britse kampioenschap, maar vanochtend heeft de organisatie bevestigd dat de huidige teams ook in 2011 in de Euroseries zullen rijden.

Dit seizoen rijden er slechts 13 auto's mee in de Formule 3 Euroseries. Het kampioenschap heeft vooral veel geleden van de GP3 Series, waarnaar veel teams zijn overgestapt. Gerd Enser van de Duitse autosportbond DMSB bevestigde vandaag dat het kampioenschap in 2011 ook nog bestaat met de huidige teams.

"We hebben dit weekend gesprekken gevoerd met de teams, de DMSB, de FIA en de FFSA. De FIA wil de Euroseries blijven ondersteunen en zal ook volgend jaar nog een erkend kampioenschap zijn. De teams hebben een contract onderteken waarin staat dat ze willen blijven, we moeten nu alleen nog aan de details werken om het racen aantrekkelijker te maken", aldus Gerd Enser.
