Callum Ilott verkast naar Prema Powerteam

Callum Ilott verlaat Van Amersfoort Racing en verhuist naar het topteam van Prema. De 18-jarige Brit won dit jaar twee races in het Europees kampioenschap Formule 3 en legde beslag op de zesde plaats in eindstand. Volgend seizoen wil hij met Prema voor de titel gaan.

Ilott: "We hebben alle opties voor 2017 bestudeerd: GP3, Indy Lights en zelfs de GP2, maar met slechts twee jaar ervaring in de autosport is het logisch om nog een jaar in de Formule 3 te blijven. Prema heeft een uitstekende erelijst en na mijn beslissing om door te gaan in dit kampioenschap was dit het team waar ik al mijn aandacht op vestigde."

"Met een succesvolle renstal in de GP2 biedt Prema ook de beste kansen om de autosportladder richting de Formule 1 verder te beklimmen. Ik wil Van Amersfoort Racing bedanken voor alles dat ze in 2016 voor mij gedaan hebben. Nu is het tijd voor de volgende stap. Met de kennis die ik dit jaar heb opgedaan moet ik volgend jaar op jacht gaan naar de titel."
