Carlin slaat talent Lando Norris aan de haak

Lando Norris vervolgt zijn loopbaan in 2017 in het Europees kampioenschap Formule 3. De 17-jarige Brit heeft getekend bij het team van Carlin. Norris won dit jaar titels in de Toyota Racing Series, de Formule Renault 2.0 Eurocup en het Noord-Europees kampioenschap Formule Renault 2.0.

Eind dit seizoen debuteerde hij in Hockenheim reeds in de Formule 3, waar hij en passant een snelste raceronde liet noteren. In de Macau Grand Prix knokte hij zich van de 26ste startplaats terug naar een elfde plek. Dit alles resulteerde in de McLaren Autosport BRDC Award voor Norris.

Nu gaat hij met Carlin meteen op jacht naar de titel. "Ik ben verguld om me bij Carlin te voegen en ik kan niet wachten om te beginnen aan het nieuwe seizoen. Mijn doel is simpel; hoewel het mijn eerste jaar in deze klasse is, wil ik gelijk het kampioenschap op mijn naam schrijven."

"Ik heb het volste vertrouwen in het pakket, zowel in het team als in Volkswagen. Ik geloof dat ik het in me heb om meteen een gooi te doen naar de titel. Mocht het kampioenschap nog net iets te hoog gegrepen zijn, dan is het veroveren van de titel voor beste rookie een absolute must", aldus Norris.
