Prijzenpot Europees F3-kampioenschap omhoog

De kampioen in het Europees kampioenschap Formule 3 krijgt dit jaar 100.000 euro die hij kan besteden aan de volgende stap op de autosportladder. Voorwaarde is wel dat hij zijn loopbaan dan vervolgt in een serie van de internationale autosportbond FIA.

De prijzenpot voor het Europees Formule 3-kampioenschap gaat flink omhoog in 2017. Naast de 200.000 euro voor rookies en de 100.000 euro voor de kampioen mogen de teams voortaan ook 200.000 euro verdelen, op basis van een verdeelsleutel ten aanzien van de prestaties.

Stefano Domenicali, voorzitter van de eenzitters-commissie bij de FIA: "De huidige economische situatie in de formule-klasses maakt het voor ons noodzakelijk om te blijven werken aan de waarde van het Europees kampioenschap Formule 3 voor teams en coureurs."

"Met deze prijzenpot, vorig jaar al uitgereikt aan debutanten en nu uitgebreid naar de teams, proberen we onze deelnemers een steuntje in de rug te geven. Hierdoor zijn renstallen misschien eerder geneigd om een groot talent zonder sponsorgeld vast te leggen."
