Harrison Newey blijft bij Van Amersfoort Racing

Harrison Newey, de zoon van Red Bull-ontwerper Adrian Newey, komt ook in 2017 in het Europees kampioenschap Formule 3 uit voor Van Amersfoort Racing. De 18-jarige Brit racet vorig jaar al voor het team van Frits van Amersfoort in die klasse. Newey voegt zich bij de eerder bevestigde David Beckmann, Pedro Piquet en Joey Mawson.

Vorig seizoen scoorde hij 22 punten op weg naar een achttiende plek. Deze winter veroverde hij de titel in de MRF Challenge. Newey: "Als coureur wil je altijd op de toppen van je kunnen presteren. Frits van Amersfoort heeft keer op keer bewezen een van de beste Formule 3-teams op de been te brengen en de sfeer binnen Van Amersfoort Racing heeft geholpen bij mijn ontwikkeling als rijder. Ik twijfel er niet aan dat onze samenwerking nieuwe hoogtepunten zal opleveren. Mijn doel is om zo snel mogelijk op het podium te eindigen."
