Missie Renger van der Zande in Oschersleben geslaagd

100% fun. Dat was het motto waarmee Renger de Formule 3 Euroseries-race op Oschersleben in ging. En dat is meer dan gelukt. In de zondagrace reed hij zich vanaf de laatste startplaats naar een vijfde plek aan de finish en in de punten.

"Even had ik weer het inmiddels vertrouwde rotgevoel", zei Renger. Op vrijdag brak een wishbone af waardoor ik in het grind belandde. Onvoldoende tracktime om de scherpte met deze Kumho-banden te krijgen, was het gevolg. De eerste race startte ik dan ook slechts vanaf de twaalfde plaats. Snel stoomde ik door het veld, op weg naar de achtste plaats, die interessant is in verband met de reversed grid. Het zou de pole op zondag opgeleverd hebben. Maar in ronde vijf was het over en liep de olie uit mijn motor weg."

"Vandaag dus achteraan gestart. Vreselijk veel raceplezier gehad, door een scherpe start en door het onderste uit de kan te halen. Vijfde bij de eindstreep was gewoon een lekker resultaat", aldus Renger, die achter Wittmann en Vanthoor en voor Bottas, Mortara en Sims, allen frontrunners in het Kampioenschap, eindigde.

"Ik kwam hier met een open mind, heb veel energie gekregen van het samenspel met het team en heb uiteindelijk lekker kunnen racen, op het scherpst van de snede. En toch met deze eenmalige start in de Euroseries heb ik ook in deze competitie weer puntjes gepakt. Helemaal goed."

Renger heeft de komende periode een druk programma, met uitstapjes naar Brazilie en China. Verder zal hij hoogstwaarschijnlijk veel testwerk doen voor een racebandenproducent, zo meldde zijn officiële site.

Enig idee wat Renger volgend jaar gaat doen (of zou moeten doen)?

Volgens mij wilt tie zich focussen op DTM en Le Mans races, dat dacht ik in iedergeval te lezen ergens.

Laatste plaats in F3 euroseries is tegenwoordig 13. Dus niet echt moeilijk om je naar voren te werken...
