Heeft Lando Norris een beslissend gaatje geslagen?

Lando Norris heeft op de Nürburgring uitstekende zaken gedaan in het Europees kampioenschap Formule 3. De 17-jarige Brit won twee van de drie races op de baan in de Duitse Eifel. Belangrijker nog is dat zijn belangrijkste concurrenten Maximilian Günther en Joël Eriksson faalden.

Günther hield slechts zes puntjes over aan het weekend op de Nürburgring, Eriksson deed het met zeven punten net iets beter. Norris verzamelde daarentegen 68 punten met twee overwinningen en een tweede plaats. Het talent uit de opleiding van McLaren staat er goed voor.

Hij verstevigde zijn leidende positie in het kampioenschap en heeft inmiddels een voorsprong van 73 punten op Günther. Met nog twee weekenden te gaan - op de Red Bull Ring en op de Hockenheimring - lijkt Norris een beslissend gaatje geslagen te hebben.

Günther en Eriksson hebben een wonder nodig om nog in de buurt te komen van de huidige koploper. Norris heeft dit seizoen ondertussen al negen zeges geboekt. Met nog zes races voor de boeg ligt het rookie-record van Max Verstappen uit 2014 (tien overwinningen) voor het grijpen.

Ik heb geen idee hoe goed of slecht de concurrentie is, vergelijken is daarom sowieso lastig.
