Ilott pakt pole position, Norris op koers voor de titel

Callum Ilott heeft pole position voor de eerste race van het Europees kampioenschap Formule 3 van dit weekend op de Hockenheimring voor zich opgeëist. De Brit verwees kampioenschapleider Lando Norris naar de tweede plaats. Het verschil tussen de twee bedroeg 0,159 seconde.

Norris deed desalniettemin goede zaken voor de titel. Het talent uit de opleiding van McLaren hoeft slechts als achtste te eindigen in de eerste race om zijn kampioenschap veilig te stellen. En zelfs in het onwaarschijnlijke scenario dat hij geen punten scoort, dan nog moet Maximilian Günther winnen om zijn kansen in leven te houden. De Duitser start morgen echter slechts als twaafde.
