Norris snelste in de eerste kwalificatie in Macau

Europees Formule 3-kampioen Lando Norris heeft in de eerste kwalificatie voor de Macau Grand Prix de beste tijd gerealiseerd. De 18-jarige Brit klokte een 2:11.570 op het verraderlijke stratencircuit. Daarmee was hij dik negen tienden sneller dan Pedro Piquet op de tweede plaats.

Maximilian Günther completeerde de top drie met een 2:12.619. Norris heeft halsbrekende toeren uit moeten halen om nu al aanwezig te zijn in Macau. Hij zou eigenlijk deze week voor McLaren testen in Brazilië, maar nadat die sessie was afgelast sprong hij op het vliegtuig voor een wereldreis.

Van een jetlag heeft Norris ogenschijnlijk geen last, want hij gaat in Macau voorlopig verder met wat hij in het Europees kampioenschap Formule 3 al heeft laten zien. Sergio Sette Camara was vanochtend de snelste in de eerste training, maar in de eerste kwalificatie crashte hij.
