F4-kampioen Armstrong stapje hogerop met Prema

Ferrari-talent Marcus Armstrong maakt de overstap van de Formule 4 naar het Europees kampioenschap Formule 3. De 17-jarige Nieuw-Zeelander veroverde dit jaar de titel in het Italiaans Formule 4-kampioenschap en eindigde in het Duits Formule 4-kampioenschap als runner-up.

Amrstrong maakt nu promotie binnen Prema. Het team hevelt hem over van de Formule 4 naar de Formule 3. Armstrong: "Ik ben verguld om met Prema een stapje hogerop te maken, zeker na de successen die we het afgelopen seizoen samen hebben behaald. Ik ken iedereen binnen het team goed en voel me bevoorrecht om met zulke ervaren mensen te mogen werken. Ik heb genoten van mijn eerste rondjes in een Formule 3-auto en hoop in 2018 een vliegende start te maken."

Prema-teammanager Rene Rosin: "Het doet ons deugd om Marcus zijn Formule 3-debuut te gunnen. Hij was briljant in zijn eerste seizoen in de Europese eenzitters en ik kan niet wachten om te zien hoe het hem een niveautje hoger zal vergaan. Hij zal een tandje bij moeten schakelen om zich staande te houden in een competitieve serie als het Europees kampioenschap Formule 3, maar gezien hoe indrukwekkend hij dit jaar was heb ik er het volste vertrouwen in dat hij er klaar voor is."
