Vaidyanathan blijft bij Carlin, Fernandez naar Motopark

De line-ups van Carlin en Team Motopark voor het Europees kampioenschap Formule 3 bestaan komend seizoen uit zes coureurs. Carlin hevelt Ameya Vaidyanathan definitief over naar de Formule 3. De 21-jarige Indiase rijder was vorig seizoen actief in de Euroformula Open.

Vaidyanathan voegt zich bij de eerder vastgelegde Ferdinand Habsburg, Jehan Daruvala, Sacha Fenestraz (foto), Devlin DeFrancesco en Nikita Troitskiy. "Het is geweldig om de stap naar het Europees Formule 3-kampioenschap te maken, in wat mijn derde jaar bij Carlin wordt", zegt Vaidyanathan. Bij het team blijven was de meest logische beslissing, want ik ben bekend met deze organisatie en ik zie de toewijding die bij iedereen leeft om de best mogelijke resultaten te behalen."

Ook Team Motopark heeft een zesde coureur vastgelegd voor 2018. Het gaat om Sebastian Fernandez, een 17-jarig talent met zowel een Venezolaans als een Spaans paspoort. Hij reed vorig jaar in de Formule 4 en won races in de kampioenschappen in Italië en de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten. Motopark had eerder al Fabio Scherer, Daniel Ticktum, Marino Sato, Jonathan Aberdein en Jüri Vips aangetrokken voor komend seizoen.
