Seizoen Peroni ten einde na angstaanjagende crash op Monza

Het Formule 3-seizoen van Alexander Peroni is tot een vroegtijdig einde gekomen. De opgelopen verwondingen bij een horrorcrash op Monza zorgen ervoor dat hij in het laatste weekend van het seizoen, over ruim tweeënhalve week in Sochi, niet in actie kan komen.

Een week na het dodelijke ongeval van Anthoine Hubert in de Formule 2-race op Spa-Francorchamps ging het in Italië vreselijk mis voor Peroni. In de slotfase van de F3-race op zaterdag ging de Australiër wijd in de Parabolica, waar hij vervolgens door een sausage kerb gelanceerd werd. Peroni vloog in zijn bolide tientallen meters door de lucht en kwam ondersteboven op de bandenstapels terecht.

Door de halo werden levensbedreigende situaties voorkomen en Peroni kon op eigen kracht uitstappen, maar na onderzoek in het ziekenhuis bleek hij toch een rugwervel te hebben gebroken en een hersenschudding te hebben opgelopen. Dat heeft voor zowel de coureur als voor zijn team, Campos Racing, gevolgen voor het eerstvolgende en tevens laatste raceweekend van de Formule 3 in 2019.

Peroni moet maand corset dragen

Peroni moet de wedstrijden op het Sochi Autodrom namelijk aan zich voorbij laten gaan. Hoewel een operatie aan de rugwervel niet nodig bleek, is de man uit Tasmanië vandaag pas uit het ziekenhuis ontslagen. Wel moet hij de komende maand een corset dragen om zijn rug de tijd te geven om te herstellen. Deelname aan de races in Rusland, die op 28 en 29 september plaatsvinden, is daardoor onmogelijk.

Campos Racing zal dus voor het laatste weekend van het seizoen moeten zoeken naar een vervanger voor Peroni. Alessio Deledda en Sebastian Fernandez zullen dat weekend dus een nieuwe teamgenoot mogen verwelkomen.

Heel goed weggekomen die jongen, ik hoop voor hem dat hij snel zijn race loopbaan kan vervolgen..
Lijkt me ook wat joh als je zo'n mega crash achter je naam hebt staan, als hij straks hersteld is dan zou ik de beelden van het ongeval koesteren, kijk daar vlieg ik jongens ;-)

Echt Peroni had een engeltje op zijn schouder! Ik heb het de vorige keer al gezegd, die Halo kan me esthetisch gezien gestolen worden. Maar waar we na vorig jaar spa nog konden
discussiëren of Leclerc er nou wel of niet wat aan had. Kunnen we nu zeker zeggen dat na 2 incidenten in een goeie week het zeker levens kan redden. (Gelael kreeg in spa een brokstuk op zijn halo)

Weet niet wat het is, de invoering van de Halo vond ik vanuit esthetisch oogpunt niets, bovendien vond ik het zwaar overdreven destijds, maar sinds dat gekke ding erop zit vinden er opeens allerlei ongelukken plaats waarbij dat ding zijn nut bewijst, alsof ze het erom doen..
Toch hoop ik nog steeds op een screen achtig iets wat er fraaier uitziet

  Zeker goed weg gekomen. Die auto ging zoo'n 10 meter de lucht in en kletterde op zijn kop in de hekken. Ik doe aan zweeflvliegen, als ik op zo'n manier het vliegtuig land ben ik er aan.

  De FIA heeft die belachelijke worst daar zelf geplaatst, dus die kunnen die jongen toch moeilijk op een houtje laten bijten.
