Prema voltooit line-up voor F3-seizoen met Renault-junior Piastri

Prema heeft haar line-up voor het Formule 3-seizoen 2020 rond. Het Italiaanse team kondigde aan dat Oscar Piastri, sinds dit jaar onderdeel van de Renault Sport Academy, de derde wagen gaat besturen.

De pas 18-jarige Piastri werd afgelopen seizoen kampioen in de Formule Renault Eurocup en verdiende daarmee een plaatsje in het opleidingsprogramma van Renault. Komend seizoen zet de Australiër, die in 2017 de tweede plaats veroverde in het Britse Formule 4, een stap vooruit met promotie naar de FIA Formule 3. Dat doet hij met Prema, dat afgelopen seizoen de eerste drie posities in het kampioenschap bezette.

Bij Prema krijgt Piastri te maken met twee teamgenoten: Logan Sargeant kwam over van Carlin Buzz, terwijl Frederik Vesti binnen Prema promoveerde vanuit de Formula Regional European. "Ik kijk ernaar uit om me bij de Renault Sport Academy te voegen in 2020 en ik kan niet wachten om aan het nieuwe seizoen met Prema Racing in de Formule 3 te beginnen", vertelde Piastri.

"Veel getalenteerde coureurs hebben de Academy doorlopen en de line-up van dit jaar is sterk, dus ik kijk ernaar uit om zoveel mogelijk te leren van mijn mede-leden. Het was hard werken om op dit punt in mijn carrière te komen nadat ik de Formule Renault Eurocup vorig jaar won, maar dat was het allemaal waard. Ik ben extreem trots dat ik nu onderdeel van dit illustere team en de Academy ben."
