Alpine stalt Caio Collet en Victor Martins bij MP Motorsport

MP Motorsport slaat voor het komende Formule 3-seizoen de handen ineen met het Formule 1-team van Alpine. De Nederlandse renstal heeft namelijk twee van de drie beschikbare stoeltjes voor 2021 gereserveerd voor talenten uit het opleidingsprogramma van Alpine, te weten Caio Collet en Victor Martins. De naam van de derde rijder wordt op een later moment bekendgemaakt.

Collet, een 18-jarige Braziliaan, maakt sinds 2019 onderdeel uit van het opleidingstraject van Renault. Vorig jaar reed hij in de Formule Renault Eurocup, waarin hij als runner-up eindigde. "De Formule 3 staat in het voorprogramma van de Formule 1 en logischerwijs weet je dan meer ogen op je gericht. Het wordt belangrijk om elk weekend optimaal te presteren", aldus Collet.

Martins, een 19-jarige Fransman, is degene die Collet in 2020 wist te verslaan op weg naar de titel in de Formule Renault Eurocup. In die klasse werkte hij in 2019 al samen met MP Motorsport. Martins: "Dankzij Alpine ben ik in de gelegenheid om me te omringen met belangrijke en inspirerende mensen, wat ongetwijfeld zijn vruchten af gaat werpen."
