Doohan wint sprintrace op nat Spa-Francorchamps achter safety car door zware crash

De tweede sprintrace van het weekend is gewonnen door Jack Doohan, zoon van de beroemde motorcoureur Mick Doohan. David Schumacher, teamgenoot van Doohan, maakt het feest voor het Italiaanse team compleet. Logan Sargant werd derde.

De Australiër, rijdend voor Trident, begon vanaf poleposition en had tot het einde een marge van vier seconden opgebouwd. De race werd echter achter de safety car beëindigd na een opnieuw een heftige crash bij uitkomen Eau Rouge.

Kampioenschapsleider Dennis Hauger kent vooralsnog geen goed weekend. De Noor werd in de eerste sprintrace vanochtend 11de en in deze race 9de. Doohan komt door zijn tweede zege van het seizoen dichterbij aan Hauger met 44 punten. Het verschil blijft groot, maar met Doohan op pole voor de hoofdrace en Hauger op P14 is alles nog mogelijk in dit kampioenschap.
